Urban Observation of the Week: Anolis grahami

This week we wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day, urban anole style! Here’s some photos I took of Anolis grahami in Kingston, Jamaica a couple of weeks ago. Anoles have a colorful throat fan (called a dewlap) that they extend to signal to other males in dominance displays and to females they would like to mate with. I captured an epic rooftop dewlap showdown between two male A. grahami and followed the winner down to the lucky lady.

Do you have a photo or video of an urban species doing something unusual? What about a rare plant or animal that you were surprised to find in a city? If so, let Lindsay know or Tweet at us and you could be featured as a future observation of the week!
